Most bloggers apply to Mediavine Journey the same way people buy lottery tickets. Fingers crossed, no idea what they're actually being judged on, praying the email says yes.
Then the rejection lands and nobody tells them why.
So I did something about it.
The Sheet
I've been tracking Mediavine Journey approvals and building them into one master sheet.
Every site sorted by category. Home decor here, fashion there, food, travel, lifestyle, all of it separated out so you can see the patterns inside your own niche instead of guessing.
I've also added the newest approvals, so this isn't a stale list from last year. These are sites getting the green light right now, under the current review standards.
Reply to everything. Edit nothing.
Your inbox is full. Slack is piling up. Client messages need a response yesterday. Typing thoughtful replies to all of it takes hours you don't have.
Wispr Flow turns your voice into clean, professional text you can send the moment you stop talking. Speak like you would to a colleague — tangents and all — and get polished output. Emails, Slack, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, whatever's open.
89% of messages sent with zero edits. Used by teams at OpenAI, Vercel, and Clay. Works on Mac, Windows, and iPhone.
Open it. Click through to the actual sites. Study them.
Look at the homepages. Look at the About Us pages. Look at how they handle authors, categories, and layout.
Because once you've seen twenty approved sites side by side, something becomes impossible to unsee.
They all look like real publications.
Not blogs. Publications.
Two Things Get You Approved
After going through this many approved sites, the pattern narrows down to two things.
The first is content. Engaging, useful, written for an actual human being who came looking for an answer.
The second is web design, and this is where most rejections happen.
Traffic gets you into the room. Design decides whether you walk back out with an approval.
A reviewer lands on your homepage and makes a judgment in about ten seconds: does this look like a brand run by a real person, or a template someone spun up last Tuesday?
Here's exactly what an approved site has.
The Requirements List:
→ A proper About Us page. Well managed person, background info, proper photo, real contact info. Not "welcome to my blog."
→ Social profiles linked from your About Us page. Advertisers check whether the person behind the site actually exists online. Even a modest presence beats an empty one.
→ A custom homepage. Not the default list of recent posts your theme shipped with. Featured content, curated sections, something that looks designed on purpose.
→ Top posts on the homepage (Editor’s Choice). Show your best work up front instead of whatever you published last.
→ Category-wise posts on the homepage. Sections organized by topic so the homepage reads like a magazine front page, not a feed.
→ Custom category pages. Every category page needs real context, a short intro explaining what it covers and who it's for. Not a bare list of links.
→ Custom author archives. A proper author page listing that writer's articles, with their bio and photo attached.
→ Author bio on every article. Name, photo, credentials, linked to their author page.
→ Newsletter embedded on the homepage. This one gets skipped constantly. An email opt-in signals you're building an audience, not just harvesting pageviews.
That's the whole list. Nothing exotic on it. But go audit your own site against those nine points right now and count how many you're missing.
What It Looks Like Done Right
Reading a list is one thing. Seeing it executed is another.
This is our sample build: https://sagelychic.com/
Open it next to the approval sheet and compare. Custom homepage with curated sections.
Well curated About Us page. Author bios attached to the content. Custom category pages. Newsletter embedded where it belongs.
That's the standard. Not because it's fancy, but because it clears every single box on that list.
